It's quite a climb up to this panoramic viewpoint (belvédère), but you will be rewarded with a superb view from the summit.
This is a family walk and feasible for children from five years upwards (although the climb is quite steep).
Starting point: Place du Château in Vizille.
Follow the yellow markings.
Walk towards the shops in the Rue Général de Gaulle (to the left, when facing the château). After just a few metres, turn right into a tunnel and carry on to the Carrefour des Allas.
Cross the Pont des Allas bridge on the right and follow the Chemin des Murs towards Le Péage de Vizille, walking alongside the walls of the château.
At the crossroads, turn left onto the path that goes up through the woods to the viewpoint. The steep path takes about 30 minutes.
Once at the top, you can enjoy the view over Vizille and the Connexe and Vercors mountain ranges. A viewpoint indicator helps you to identify local features. The site also has a picnic table.
You can go back down via a different, less steep path. At the junction known as Les Barontes, turn left towards Vizille, crossing over Sous Grand la Combe before arriving back at the Pont des Allas bridge, from where you retrace your steps. Walk back under the tunnel, then turn left towards the Château.
