The Prémol site is located in the commune of Vaulnaveys le Haut at an altitude of 1100m. A pleasant, cool site, where history and nature, meadows and forest, come together. Discreet but not without charm.
To reach the Prémol site (meaning "soft meadow"), take the D111 from Vaulnaveys le Haut towards the Chamrousse resort.
A few hairpin bends lead to a beautiful clearing where you can still see the ruins of the former Chartreuse de Prémol, which disappeared during the French Revolution. This monastery of nuns was founded in 1234 by Béatrice de Montferrat, wife of the Dauphin Guigues-André. Like the nearby Grande Chartreuse founded by Saint-Bruno, the nuns of the Chartreuse de Prémol were cloistered and their hermitage was cut off from the world.
It's a cool, enchanting place to enjoy a picnic.
