Instalado en un convento del siglo XVII, este museo presenta exposiciones variadas sobre el patrimono regional de ayer y de hoy como "La gente de los Alpes", presentación de la vida rural en las montañas al siglo XIX.
The Musée dauphinois, located on the slopes of the Bastille in Grenoble in the former Sainte-Marie-d’en-Haut convent, was founded in 1906 on the initiative of Hippolyte Müller, its first curator. From the very beginning, its mission was to “connect the region’s earliest inhabitants with those who still live there.” Dedicated to Alpine heritage, the museum is distinguished by its two flagship exhibitions, which explore how societies adapt to this unique environment.
The Musée dauphinois is also a space for reflection on our times and the encounter between the world’s cultures. Each year, two to three exhibitions take turns exploring universal and contemporary themes. Rooted in the local cultural landscape, it offers a rich program that explores numerous artistic fields: performing arts, digital arts, visual arts, and photography.
As a museum of society, the Musée dauphinois believes that cultural heritage is valuable only insofar as it opens us up to the questions of our time, sheds light on the dynamics of contemporary society, and expresses the richness and diversity of cultures, both across time and space.
