Belvedere Loop

Step by step

1 - Depart from village square. 12th-century church: polychrome wooden altarpiece (17th century), contemporary stained-glass windows by Arcabas

2 - Go downhill to the left for 50 m. At La Charmette, turn left towards Montjalat.

3 - Go through the hamlet of Jaillières towards Chamechaude. 300 m further up, turn right onto the forest road.

4 - Panorama: St Eynard, Ecoutoux, Vercors. After the small range, turn left into the meadows towards Le Churut.

5 - Picnic area

6 - Note: two beautiful old barns upstream.

7 - At Montjalat, take the track opposite towards the hamlet of Churut.

8 - Cross the hamlet: old 17th-century granary and Churut chapel. At the chapel, turn right towards Col de Palaquit. Take the first left into the forest.

10 - At the reservoir (drinking water supply), turn left. Cross the RD 512. Continue downhill.

11 - La Grange Lainière farm: wool, clothing, honey and apples for sale.

12 - Turn left over the RD 512. Cross the RD at the pond, follow the small road downhill. Turn right for 100 m and take the second footpath on the left.

13 - Viewpoint over the Marais des Sagnes (sensitive natural area)

14 - At the Beauches calvary, turn left onto Chemin de l'Oie, heading for the village center.
