Designed in the 19th century by the Luizet brothers, renowned garden architects from Lyon, this landscaped park lies at the convergence of the orderly, symmetrical French garden and the English-style garden, where the man-made landscape nevertheless looks natural.
The garden is organized around the manor house, with long views over the Tuie stream to the north and the redwoods to the south. A deliberately winding path creates a multitude of landscaped scenes, with distant views, wooded atmospheres or clearings here and there punctuated by structures often linked to water: catchments, fountains, ponds...
Around the house, other atmospheres are linked to the activities and buildings of the time: cowsheds, orchards, stables have left their mark (greenhouses, orchards, etc.) on a framework of exotic trees brought back by 19th-century botanist travelers: cedars, plane trees, sequoia. Nature has settled in, with its procession of oak, lime, hazelnut and ash trees...
From the hills, water is everywhere, flowing from fountain to fountain before reaching the valley.
Organized in three parts: the first, below, where ash, alder and marsh oak indicate the presence of water; in the second area adjacent to the house, the vegetation is ordered, the water controlled by a fountain and a basin with a superb plane tree in "free port". Cedar groves give the last area a more exotic ambience.
Today, the site is home to a number of cultural facilities, including a library, a chemistry museum, a children's playground, a swimming pool and a multi-sports field.
