Footpath from Jarrie to Montchaboud

Follow the SIPAVAG yellow markings.

The walk starts at the yellow signpost for Montchaboud located behind Jarrie station. The climb to Montchaboud first follows a shady lane, before turning off on to a smaller path through the forest. A view opens up over the industrial valley of lower Jarrie, with the Chartreuse mountains visible in the background.
Carry on to La Source and then turn right at the next two junctions towards La Longagnie, followed by Les Clares. Continue left towards Montchaboud, on a path shaded by lush vegetation. The views are now over Vizille and the Romanche Valley.
Once in Montchaboud, carry on to the wash house and then turn left uphill. Turn left again at the sign for Les Vernes. From here, you can admire the view over Jarrie, Brié, Herbeys and, in the distance, the city of Grenoble and the Chartreuse and Vercors mountain ranges. The path back down to Jarrie goes through a forest of chestnut trees.
At the Palleine junction, turn left towards Haute-Jarrie. You will catch a glimpse of the Château de Bon Repos in the rolling landscape. At Le Rampeau, turn left towards Basse-Jarrie, follow the hill and then go up towards La Croix de la Vue. Go straight over the next junction and you will be back in Les Clares.
Turn right to go downhill.
From here, the path is the same as that taken at the beginning of the walk. Turn left in La Longagnie and walk back down to the station in Jarrie.
