The Caves de la Chartreuse tourist and cultural site invites you to discover the world of liqueurs, its exceptional heritage, and the expertise of the Carthusian monks through a series of guided tours.
As you enter the museum, you’ll wander through the former production facility, passing through seven exhibits that symbolize the major periods in the history of Chartreuse liqueurs. From the origins of the Elixir to the birth of the liqueur and the founding of the brand, you’ll see nearly 1,200 original artifacts that have never been exhibited before.
The tour continues through a space entirely dedicated to the plants that form the basis of the monks’ liqueur production. Here, all your senses will be awakened—you’ll be able to taste, see, touch, and smell.
Before entering the historic cellar in Voiron, you’ll pass through the atrium, which showcases the Chartreuse Mountains, where the monks have lived for nearly a millennium.
Your visit will conclude with a tasting of the traditional green and yellow liqueurs or a non-alcoholic herbal tea.
