Cycling event: The Tour de France 2025 returns to Grenoble Alpes
On 24 July 2025, the Tour de France returns to the Grenoble Alpes region, with Vif as the starting town for the 18ᵉ stage.
Vif is just a few kilometres south of Grenoble. The riders will set off on a mountain stage considered to be the most demanding of this Tour, heading for Courchevel, with a finish at the Col de la Loze.
This high mountain stage is 171 km long, with a cumulative climb of 5,500 metres. The cyclists will pass over several emblematic cols:
- the Col du Glandon (21.7 km at 5.1% gradient),
- the Col de la Madeleine (19.2 km at 7.9% gradient),
- to conclude this stage, which will put the Tour's best climbers to the test, the Col de la Loze (26.2 km at 6.5% gradient).
As spectators of the Tour, come and cheer on the riders at the start of the race and enjoy the entertainment as the legendary Tour caravan passes by.
Practical information on how to make the most of the day is currently being prepared.
This year Grenoble Alpes is also hosting the passage of the 4ᵉ stage of the Vuelta a España, on Tuesday 26 August 2025. Travelling from Susa in Italy to the finishing town of Voiron via Vizille and Sassenage, this stage is an exceptional cycling event for Isère.
