La boucle du Saut du Moine depuis Haute Jarrie

Step by step

The trail starts from the parking lot of the Haute Jarrie regional nature reserve. Turn left out of the parking lot to reach the signpost for "Le Plâtre". Turn right onto the Chemin de l'Aragna towards Champ Baret. Continue straight on towards "Crey". From the edge of the meadow, you can see the Château de Bon Repos on your left. Continue straight on until you reach "Le Vernay", where you take the path on the right towards Saut du Moine. Follow the path along the edge of the meadows on either side until you reach a rocky platform. Keep going, you're almost there, you can see a barrier below, you're on the rock overlooking the confluence of the Romanche and Drac rivers. It's said to have taken its name from the "Saut du Moine" (Monk's Leap), a drama of passion. Before continuing on your way, don't forget to read the totem next to the barrier to discover the legend of this rock. Next, climb back up to the rocky platform above the boulder, turn left and then right on the Chemin du Maupas towards the village of Champagnier. When you reach the end of the village, continue along the chemin de l'église and turn slightly right onto the chemin des Provendes, then right onto the chemin de la côte towards Pré Langon. To finish the Saut du Moine loop, at Pré Langon, turn right onto the track towards Champ Baret. Turn left towards "Le Plâtre" to return to the starting point.
