Soon after you set off, you make a clean crossing to the west to join the Drac, a tributary of the Isère. The beautiful, peaceful "voie verte" (greenway) on which you then head due south, allows you to swallow the kilometers of this largely level route naturally.

After passing through the Comboire shopping area, the Chronovélo linking Échirolles to the city center takes you back to your starting point.

On the way out, the foothills of the Vercors mountains line your progress, creating a vanishing line that guides both your wheel and your gaze.

On the return journey, you'll enjoy privileged views of the Belledonne chain and the Chartreuse massif.

1 From the Parc Georges Pompidou area, head north on the Chronovélo, cross the tramway tracks carefully and take the boulevard Maréchal Foch cycle lane on your left for 1.5km.

2 At the same time, cross the freeway and the Drac over the Pont de Catane and, once on the other bank, carefully cross the Boulevard de l'Europe towards Rue de l'Industrie. Then take rue des Charrettes, which leads you onto the voie verte, which runs due south for 2km.

3 Use the Rondeau footbridge to cross the Drac, then continue on the voie verte, still heading south, for 2km.

4 Exit the voie verte by taking the path on your left and join rue du Mont Aiguille, then take the first right onto rue du Drac.

5 At the traffic circle, take the third exit onto the two-way cycle track* on rue de Comboire. At the next traffic circle, stay on the cycle lane and take the first exit, rue Géo Charles.

6 After passing Parc Picasso, take the footbridge over the Canal des 120 toises and continue on Avenue Paul Vaillant Couturier before turning right onto Cours Jean-Jaurès.

7 Cross cours Jean-Jaurès to join the Chronovélo on avenue Auguste Ferrier, then continue on the Chronovélo, turning left on rue Pierre Semard.

8 Continue on the Chronovélo along avenue Victor Hugopuis rue Général Mangin alongside the railroad line, bringing you back to your starting point.
