Just outside Grenoble, you take a peaceful, shady greenway through a wild landscape, offering impressive views of the Isère river and the white rock cliffs of the Vercors. Follow the wooded banks of the Isère and discover the river's islands, home to many species of birds. Take a break at the Moirans - Voironnais birdwatching area. Another attraction for gourmet cyclists is the walnut grove, the largest in Europe. And the Grand Séchoir, a museum dedicated to walnuts, is the finishing point of your stopover... ideal for filling up on omega-3s!

Step by step

This section begins with a greenway that runs along the towpaths of the Isère for around 35 km. This section of the Belle Via presents no difficulties, as the route is entirely safe and flat. Near Saint-Gervais, the voie verte ends at a bridge marked by a barrier. At the bridge, turn right for 6 km, with a steep gradient. The first 500 m are on a busy road in a cycle lane; thereafter, the route is on a low-traffic road. From Saint Gervais to Vinay, the route is uphill. For inexperienced cyclists, electric assistance is strongly recommended.
