The tour of the Pic de L'Oeilly
Départ : Parking de la Réserve Naturelle du Luitel
38220 SÉCHILIENNEFrom the parking lot, head towards the Maison de la Réserve and Lac Luitel, cross a small bridge, and in 2 minutes you'll reach the Maison de la Réserve (alt. 1,262 m). Take the climb to the left of the building, following the yellow markings. Overlooking the road on your right, you come to a large track which you continue straight on. After passing the viewpoint overlooking Lac Luitel and the sign explaining its formation, you come to the Lac Luitel sign (alt. 1,280 m). Continue on the wide track towards the foot of Pic de l'Œilly. Now follow the white and red markings of the GR 738, the Grande Traversée de Belledonne hiking trail. At the foot of the pic de l'Œilly (alt. 1,350 m), follow the GR to the right, towards the baraque Pagnot. At Baraque Pagnot (alt. 1,380 m), you're on a wide crow's-foot. Turn right onto the downhill track, which takes you along the long-distance footpath to the Col de la Madeleine via Eau Morel. At Eau Morel (alt. 1,333 m), just after the high-voltage power line, turn left towards the Clobasse spring. Be careful, after a more open stretch, to take the path to the right which leaves the track. This brings you to the source of La Clobasse (alt. 1,330 m), and follow the signs for La Roche, 1.14 km away. At La Roche (alt. 1,150 m), turn right and back to reach Col de la Madeleine
with its panoramic view of the Taillefer mountain range. Back at La Roche, leave the GR and follow the yellow signs to Lac Luitel via Buissonnière. The path leads you to old buildings, where you turn left onto a beautiful uphill path lined with low dry-stone walls. At La Cime de Cherley (alt. 1,220 m), turn right. After a short descent, you'll reach a slight level and a crossroads. Be careful not to take the path immediately to the left, but keep straight on for a few metres to find a wider track to the left. This long downhill ramp takes you to the hamlet of Buissonnière (alt. 1,080 m). Continue straight on up towards Lac Luitel. This brings you back to the road leading down to Séchilienne, which you follow to the left for around 20 m, before taking the path to the right on the opposite side of the road. Follow the yellow markings for a steeper climb back up to the road. Follow the road uphill to reach your starting point at the Maison de la Réserve naturelle du Luitel parking lot (alt. 1,262 m).
