The "Place du Torrent", a monumental work in situ signed by the Dutch collective Observatorium, composed of Geert van de Camp, Andre Dekker, Lieven Poutsma and Ruud Reutelingsperger.
A tree lying across a tumultuous river
Stretching over nearly 3,000m², Place du Torrent is composed of a river of asphalt linking the eastern and western ends of the square. In the center of its bed, a monumental sculpture outlines the contours of a tree trunk, offering a place for reunion, rest or contemplation. Made from the asphalt of the old road that once crossed the site, the torrent can be walked or cycled along. It will progressively green up by welcoming spontaneous vegetation between its asphalt scales, while trees and shrubs emerge from the water to offer shade in fine weather
