"I really like Grenoble and with the G-PASS I saw the opportunity to (re)discover places and activities. The fact that I could support local tourism was also a motivating factor. My friend Stéphanie and I had been talking about it for a few months, so it was the perfect opportunity to take a 3-day break."
This summer, @Etancori, a content creator from Grenoble, put on her trainers to embark on 3 days of intensive exploration of her city, Grenoble, and the surrounding area. 3 days packed with cultural and natural discoveries.
Her travelling companions? Her friend Stéphanie and the G-PASS Montagne 72h, a great deal not to be missed for access to a whole host of activities at reduced prices. Here’s her trip, full of unforgettable moments and welcome savings!

Day 1: Dive into nature and history with the 3-day G-PASS
The two friends’ first day began with a visit to the majestic Grotte de Choranche Grotte de Choranche, guaranteed immersion into the bowels of the Earth, populated by sharp stalactites and mysterious tunnels. A few kilometres away, they then enjoyed the Jardin des Fontaines Pétrifiantes (Petrifying Fountains Garden), a real paradise of greenery where water and stone blend harmoniously to create a magical and soothing landscape.
The afternoon continued with a dive into the local history of the Dauphiné region, with a visit to the Château de Sassenage before heading off to the famous Cuves de Sassenage, a mythical and refreshing spot where the people of Grenoble love to take a dip during the summer.

"Our first day in the Vercors was a busy one. We started very early, with the Grotte de Choranche. We've been there before, of course, but it's always a delight to visit! The Jardin des Fontaines Pétrifiantes was one of our firm favourites. We felt like we were in a bubble, wandering between the floral, and often humorous creations, of the landscape gardeners.
The Château de Sassenage was a wonderful discovery, and taught us a lot about our local history, accentuated by the visit to the Cuves de Sassenage. ”

Day 2: Scientific trip to the Jardin du Lautaret
The second day was spent entirely at the Jardin du Lautaret , situated at an altitude of over 2,000 metres in the Hautes Alpes not far from the Massif des Ecrins. A treasure trove of biodiversity and a priceless scientific heritage where Alpine flora meets breathtaking landscapes, this garden, the only one of its kind in France, is overflowing with rare plants which are essential to research!
" The Jardin du Lautaret was definitely the highlight of our 3-day visit! It's a magnificent place, with an incredible view of the Meije and the Galibier. The guided tour is packed with information and sometimes incredible anecdotes. It's magical to find yourself in a setting filled with flowers and a multitude of plants, in an environment that might seem hostile due to its altitude, watching the bees at work. We found it hard to leave because we felt so good.
A little tip: take the time to stop and sunbathe. Relaxation guaranteed! "

Day 3: Thrills and cultural discoveries
For their last day, @Etancori and her friend got off to a “gentle start” with a canoe trip down the Isère, a unique way of visiting the city while combining thrills and heritage.
" I’m afraid of water and I can’t swim, but when we saw that we could go canoeing on the Isère with the G-PASS, it was impossible not to sign up. It was an exciting experience and one we'll never forget. Seeing Grenoble from the water is unusual and incredible!"

Once they had reached their destination, the two friends recovered from their excitement by sampling some delicious local produce at Le Chardon Doré.
Once full, Etancori and Stéphanie then plunged into Grenoble’s unusual mysteries with Vincent, a passionate guide from Grenoble Alpes Tourisme, on the ‘Grenoble Insolite’ guided tour of the area’s little-known gems.
“We discovered lots of Grenoble stories with Vincent, we could really listen to him for hours! ”

This guided tour was then complemented by a ride on Petit Train Touristique dans Grenoble (the Little Tourist Train around Grenoble): a perfect combination of discovering the city and exploring it in greater depth!
The tour ended on a high note with a spectacular ride up the Téléphérique de Grenoble, with panoramic views of the city and surrounding mountains.
" We ended the day with a ride on the Bastille cable car in one of the bubbles. It's a must and always great. Enjoying one of the most beautiful views of Grenoble was the perfect way to round off these 3 intense days. "

Review: the G-PASS Montagne 72h, an economic friend
"Thanks to the G-PASS Montagne 72h, we were able to discover places and activities we’d never heard of before, such as the Jardin du Lautaret and canoeing on the Isère. The price of the G-PASS paid for itself very quickly and without it we wouldn’t have been able to do as many activities.
The convenience of just having to scan your G-PASS at the various entrances (activities) is also a plus. As someone who has travelled a lot in Europe and have often used passes, the Grenoble pass is really worth it!"
With the G-PASS Montagne 72h literally in her pocket, Etancori enjoyed three days of intense and varied adventures, combining nature, culture and thrills for just €32, instead of €121 if you add up the individual cost of each activity.
In the end, Etancori and her friend saved €89, allowing them to enjoy their destination even more!
Whether you love the mountains or are keen to discover Grenoble’s rich heritage, the Grenoble Alpes G-PASS is a real asset for exploring the region with complete peace of mind.
